FearFighter™ is an online program for panic and phobia. It is based on the evidence-based approach of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT for short. Thousands of people have used this program to help them overcome their fears and lead a more normal life.
This program teaches you how to tackle your thoughts and challenge avoidance behaviours that characterise panic and phobia. You can print out worksheets for activities, monitor your own progress, and receive emails with further tips at the end of each step. Most sessions last about 30 minutes. It is recommended that you do one session a week.
Between certain steps, FearFighter™ schedules activities for you to complete. These help you build on topics covered in sessions and are essential for making progress. FearFighter™ consists of 9 sessions that need to be worked through one by one in order to obtain the greatest benefits.
FearFighter™ has undergone extensive testing via randomized controlled trials, and one, in particular, involving 700 patients from real-world clinics. It has received an endorsement from the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) for being clinically effective, as well as cost effective, for panic and phobia. In the NICE Final Appraisal Determination (FAD), FearFighter™ has been recommended for the management of both panic and phobia. FearFighter™ has since been implemented in many UK PCTs, and is being adopted by other countries as a recognised standard form of treatment.
